I've been searchin' ...

I think the new catalog is great. I am not one who is big on change; in this case, I can make an exception. ;-):-D I am still exploring all the features it offers, but I really like what I've seen so far. I am constantly receiving suggestions from patrons about books i should read. Having the 'My List' feature, where I can keep track of all these titles, is awesome because I no longer have to remember them in my head. The 'Academy Award Winners' list is really cool because I love to watch movies. I have yet to discover anything that needs improvement, but it's still early. ;-D

Good job everyone; excellent choice!!!

Really Simple Syndications

The RSS feeds I chose to follow are Awful Library Books, DBRL Teen and Readingrants. I also chose to follow MTV Movies Blog because I have to be able to talk with the teens on current things. :-D

Cool views

I chose the Google Maps website to review. What I found really interesting was the fact that I could take a virtual tour of any town I chose to visit. I searched for my address and was able to see everything around my house up close. I could even tell my yard needed mowing (I am such a bad landscaper). I was able to go around the corner and up the street for about five blocks. The tour wasn't a recent view, but it was still extremely COOL!! :-D

The only downside to this website would be the possiblity of being stalked. If someone was obsessed with you and knew your address, they could see right up to your front door. :-o Might ought to think twice before you give your address out. ;-)

Cutest puppy ever

This is my daughter's new puppy. His name is Bear and he is a long-haired chihuahua. He weighs about 3lbs and he uses every bit of it to tackle my bigger dog, Elvis. Elvis is a 45lb beagle. They are hilarious to watch.

7 1/2 habits of lifelong learners

Habit #1 GOALS: I have set goals in the past, but I never seem to accomplish them. Something else usually happens, and I get distracted, and then forget to go back a finish. Wow, that sounds like I may have AADD. :( :)
Habit #2 RESPONSIBILITY: Taking responsibility for my learning is not a problem, when I actually set my mind to learning something. I view it as a challenge (see Habit #3).
Habit #3 CHALLENGE: I view every problem I encounter as a challenge to overcome. I love solving problems. I love being challenged; it keeps my mind active and focused.
Habit #4 CONFIDENCE: Having confidence and believing I can accomplish anything I set my mind toward has never been a problem for me. Some people tell me I have so much confidence it comes off as conceit; I tell them, "I'm not conceited, I'm convinced!" ;) :D
Habit #5 LEARNING TOOLBOX: I love to create my own learning toolbox. Whenever there is a subject that grabs my interest, I have a tendency to fill my toolbox beyond capacity because I get everything I can find.
Habit #6 TECHNOLOGY: This habit has been the most difficult for me because I don't play around with the internet as much as other people. I've heard of several different resources to tap, but I never tap them.
Habit #7 MENTORING: This is one of the easiest habits for me because I have two kids attending high school. I sometimes have to help with homework, so it feels as if I am still in school myself.
Habit #7 1/2 PLAY: This habit is definitely the easiest for me because I love to play. I am a video game fanatic. I am constantly trying to figure out the best way to accomplish the goal of completing the game, and getting the highest score I possible. Sometimes, I will play the same game over just to get a better score. I also get together with my family and play boardgames or card games, or whatever strikes our fancy at the time. PLAY IS FUN!!!!!!!
